Another excellent Edublogs.org blog

Reflection #8

Wow what a weekend!  24 inches of snow, an earthquake in Clarence, 24 inches of snow, 30 mile per hour winds, 24 inches of snow, blizzard like white-out conditions, and did I mention 24 inches of snow.  It took some interesting atmospheric conditions to get that amount of snowfall with only minimal lake enhancement.  So really what the heck was going on in the atmosphere to get the dumping of snow we got???  Here is a link to a little description of what happened out there form, dare we say the “Blizzard of 2008.”

After reading this and the little background about the conditions needed to produce this wild weather, how did you cope with the weather?  What were you thinking while the snow was falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour?  Did you get in any winter activities?  Anybody get stuck, or did anyone have to go out at 2 o’clock in the morning and help dig out their brother-in- law from a snow bank because “it didn’t seem so bad when I left work!”  Sorry went off on a little tangent there.  Before I leave you to blog I just wanted to mention for those of you living under a rock, or in a cave this weekend, we got 24 inches of snow!!!

Reflection #7

Well, here we are halfway through the school year, and also halfway through our science blogging adventure.  On a whole I have to say I am very pleased with the response to blogging.  Even though it is kind of a new area for most of you, you have accepted the challenge and responsibility, and responses to the posts with sincerity and conviction.  At this time I would like to get some feedback from you as to the effectiveness of blogging, and the next steps we should take with respect to them.  They are not going away so don’t even ask, but if there are changes that can be made to them to make your blogging experience even more fulfilling please feel free to ask.  Some questions to guide you in response to this blog are; What has been the best part about blogging?  What has been the hardest thing about it?  What have you learned through blogging?  What blogs were your favorite?  What blogs were your least favorite?  What can we change to make blogging even better?  I will take all of your answers into account when moving forward with this blog.  You need only to respond once to this post, and it must be your own thoughts.  That means no posts like “I agree with …” or “everything has been great/awful.”  Remember your feedback is important and it will help shape where we go from here with our blogging experience.  Looking forward to hearing what you have to say, and as always happy blogging J J J

Reflection 5

Here is a link to an interactive website about point and non-point pollution.  Read all of the pins (you’ll see what I mean), and then comment.  Remember the first comment must be about the article, and the other two are about what the other people wrote.

Reflection 4

This time we are going to try something a little different with the blog. The link will take you to a list of 12 different ways to conserve water. Choose three of the methods and discuss whether or not it is something you could practice. Be sure to include the pro’s and con’s to each method. This article will not require you to post in response to someone else. You may post in response to someone else, but you still must post three personal comments about the three different methods.

First Journal Article Reflection

Here is the link to your first journal article.  It is about the two sides to the global warming debate.  Read the article and comment on it in the post section.  Remember you must make three posts about the article.  Your first post must be your own reaction to the article, after that you can react to what everyone else is saying.
